You may be fortunate and get a machine that does keep accurate time, but as two if not three if not all four of the machines we got fail to keep accurate time, that IS a problem IF you're a multiple cat family, like we are. I'm deducting 1 star because the chips used for the digital clocks do not keep accurate time. The machines work great, they can be programmed for multiple meals throughout the day with varying portion sizes, so your cat can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and even supper if you're inclined. I'm not taking stars off because I have a greedy cat, because my greedy cat is not a problem with the product. If I'm not monitoring him as soon as he's done he will chase away one of the other cats and eat their food, and when he's done with "seconds" he'll chase away the most timid of our cats, who is also the slowest eater, and will eat his food as well. This is a problem for us as one of our cats wolfs down his food as quickly as he can and even when I hold him back so he starts eating last (he's usually on one of the first machines to drop its food) he still finishes his food faster than the other three cats. Two of them keep about the same time and dispense their food almost the same time as one another, while the fourth machine appears to be losing time.Īgain, this would not be a problem for you if you only have one cat. The other two cats don't like the sound of the machines, and will always back up and wait for the food to fully drop into the bowls of the other two machines before moving in.Įven though we made sure to set the times of all four machines within a second of each other, one of the machines ended up dispensing its food several minutes before the other three. One of them gets shut out but they immediately jump on the second machine as soon as it starts up. Two of the cats run helter skelter for the first machine as soon it starts grinding and begins dispensing food into the bowl. We have four cats and so we bought four feeders. You can set the machines to play a tune when the food drops but the mechanical feeder mechanism is still going to be audible and your cat will still hear it. Is it a problem if you're a multiple cat family, as we are? That depends on the personality of your cats.ĭoes it matter if the loud feeder mechanism makes your cat nervous? That could also be a problem. Does it really matter if your one kitty is gradually getting fed earlier & earlier, or later & later? Probably not. ![]() If you have one cat the digital clock that gradually gains or loses time will not be a problem for you.
